Why you need a health coach

 

It takes a village 

 

One thing I’ve learned since retiring from rowing is that it’s okay – actually, it’s really important – to ask for help when you need it. As an athlete, I had an ‘army’ of people that were accessible to me if I needed anything. I was lucky enough to have very powerful (almost scary) coaches who knew my potential, and would kick my butt any time I was off track or needed a push. However, since retiring, I haven’t had the luxury of a coach by my side to push me, motivate me, or to help set my goals. I had to build my own support team. I would not be where I am today if it weren’t for the help and guidance of others. We all need to build our own teams around us: business coaches, personal trainers, doctors, counselors, and mentors. A health coach is someone who is in your corner all the way – thinking about every aspect of your health – supporting and empowering you to fight for your own best interests.
